IN THE FIELDS

As of October 2009, CICM-Japan Province has 46 members. 22 out of the whole number are young missionaries below the age of 50.

In terms of nationalities, we have 22 Belgians, among them 3 who have acquired Japanese nationality, 2 Dutchmen, 10 Congolese, 5 Filipinos and 3 Indonesians. As a matter of fact, with this small number, we are spread to our respective places, from our small formation community, parishes, schools, religious institutes until our retirement-houses.
Although we have this kind of various involvements, we still feel that we are ONE in being CICM missionaries, in one way or another.

We, in Japan, believe that the missionary priorities
that we agree to take up, are interrelated and complementary and thus constitute one corporate project.
To materialize our Provincial Missionary Projects, we came up with a "Mission Statement" that expresses our core belief and how we want to live them.

Recognizing that the Spirit of God is already at work and is present among those to whom we are sent,
we, in the Spirit of Jesus, see ourselves as supporting and cooperating with people who are working for the wholeness of creation (JPIC, IRD, Healing Ministry)

We build community in parishes, Young Christian Workers (YCW) and in CICM. As international teams we try to to give witness
to the love of God by welcoming people, being open, promoting participatory community, and serving the needy in society.
(First Evangelization, pastoral involvement)

Our mission-field in Japan is divided into 4 districts, namely
